Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — The surge in global gold prices, which once again surpassing the US$4,000 per troy ounce mark, has reignited optimism across Indonesia’s gold mining sector.

The rally has not only brightened earnings prospects but also boosted the share prices of key players, from state-owned miner Aneka Tambang (ANTM) to private producers like Merdeka Copper Gold (MDKA), Hartadinata Abadi (HRTA), and Archi Indonesia (ARCI), part of Peter Sondakh’s Rajawali Group.

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — The government are making moves to revamp gold supply for state-owned gold producer PT Aneka Tambang (ANTM) with talks of domestic market obligation (DMO) at the forefront.

Antam currently imports the majority of its raw gold despite Indonesia being among the world’s top 10 gold producers. This prompted the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister to take a closer look at the gold industry in order to seek a supply solution that is closer to home.
