Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — As global gold prices are gaining tractions on an uptrend, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. (ANTM) is facing a supply puzzle triggered by a force majeure incident at PT Freeport Indonesia’s Grasberg mine.

According to Bloomberg data, spot gold prices stood at US$4,384.33 per troy ounce on Monday (12/22/12/2025), marking a 1.05% increase from the previous level.

One option under consideration is introducing a domestic market obligation (DMO) policy to secure ANTM’s raw material supply, though the process remains lengthy.

Antam currently imports the majority of its raw gold despite Indonesia being among the world’s top 10 gold producers. This prompted the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister to take a closer look at the gold industry in order to seek a supply solution that is closer to home.

Antam remains exposed to supply risks stemming from the suspension of Freeport Indonesia’s operations. The company halted activities at the Grasberg Block Cave mine in September 2025 after an underground incident.
