Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — Uncertainty is looming over markets after US Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell made an open-ended statement regarding the possibility for further easing, following the Fed’s second rate cut this year by 25 bps to 3.75–4%.
Economists believe that Powell’s cautious remarks will curb market expectations, which previously estimated a 90% chance of another rate cut in December. For Indonesia, this sentiment could change the outlook for capital inflow, the rupiah, and Bank Indonesia’s (BI) own easing prospects.
The Fed previously slashed its key rate after its policy meeting, which ended on Wednesday (29/10/2025) to support the weakening labor market.
